COUNSELLING

Welcome from Susannah Crump

Counselling is an opportunity to be listened to, make sense of things and find ways forward.
I have recently retired from offering  counselling.

If you are looking for a counsellor I recommend these websites:

About counselling

In the first counselling session we will clarify what you hope for from counselling and talk about how best we may work together. You can decide if you wish to continue and how many sessions you think you may need.

We will also consider together whether I am the right person to help you and, if not, where you might go to get the help you need.

If you decide to come for further counselling sessions I will work with you as best fits with your aims and needs.

I offer safety and encouragement for awareness, understanding and change to unfold at a pace that’s right for you.

We may explore how your particular life experiences have influenced your natural human survival reactions. I can support you in identifying what patterns of reacting you are finding limiting or unhelpful and how these can change as you rediscover your own wisdom and what nourishes your life.

My way of working is deeply informed by my own mindfulness practice and training in mindfulness-based approaches. I have trained in a number of counselling methods. I draw on humanistic understanding of human resourcefulness and of how we make sense of the world. Cognitive and psychodynamic approaches also inform my work. (For explanations of different counselling approaches please link here to the Counselling Directory.)

Confidentiality and professional good practice

I practice within the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

What you tell me is held by me in confidence unless I understand from what you say that you or somebody else is at risk of serious harm. If I decide that it is necessary to share information with another professional, I will always, where possible, consult with you first.
